Training
Beginners have the support and encouragement of club instructors. Instructors are normally on hand during Wednesday & Sunday club sessions. Help is given to set-up and test fly newly built “trainer” aircraft, leading onto friendly and informal flying instruction to the BMFA scheme. Novices are encouraged to take the BMFA’s “A” proficiency test, to enable safe solo flight.
As experience develops, pilots can then take the more advanced “B” proficiency test, which enables pilots to fly at competitions and displays.
The club has BMFA appointed examiners for fixed wing aircraft, who conduct the A & B proficiency examinations. An appointment with your chosen examiner can be arranged when your flying standard has reached the required stage. Your instructor will advise when a pupil is ready. Also, regular sessions for taking proficiency tests are held throughout the flying season.
